Daycation at the Dukes- Palm Jumeirah post Covid19

It’s true that travel plans, among everything else, got heavily affected due to Covid19 striking a blow this year.

Majority of us, have been continuously indoors for the past 5 months with comparatively minimal leisure outings.

Keeping in mind the fact that things are slowly getting relaxed now in the UAE, with all safety measures in place, it’s not a bad idea to take a break and enjoy a day at the palm, rejuvenating your soul.

I visited Dukes Hotel, located in Palm Jumeirah, availing their Day-Cation offer which gave me Day access to a Deluxe Studio Room, all the Pools, Beach and Gym facilities as well as 100aed voucher towards F&B at any of their award-winning restaurants.

Upon entering the hotel, you’d be greeted by a huge gorgeous chandelier. Their overall design is modern, contemporary and luxurious with few elements of Vintage Britain.

The room was elegant, with a fully-equipped kitchen having all essential utensils and a predominantly black bathroom with a rain shower. All amenities needed were provided within the room.

With an amazing indoor pool, lazy river surrounded by some greenery and an infinity pool overlooking their private beach, you’ll be lost for choices for where to go for a dip. For safety, there are lifeguards and security guards at every corner as well.

A good filling meal is much needed after a day by the pool, and you can choose from the following restaurants:
Khyber– serves Indian food (it only runs currently between Wedesday to Saturday, 5pm-11pm)
Great British Restaurant– serves British food and is open for only breakfast at the moment (open 6:30am-11am)
West 14th– Famous for it’s meats, this was the only restaurant which was open for lunch during my visit and we loved their food, I tried out their Crispy Chicken Burger in a Brioche Bun.

This hotel has claimed to be following WHO guidelines to ensure the safety of their guests and staff post Covid19 and these are some of the measures that are taking place acording to my observation during the visit.

  • Temperature Checks and Luggage sanitized upon check-In.
  • Health declaration form to be filled while checking In.
  • Face masks worn by all staff as well as guests.
  • Sanitizers available at the front desk and the restaurants.
  • Beach beds being sanitized after every use (noticed this in the Indoor Pool area)
  • Social distancing signs marked around the hotel as well as by the pools.

Staying at home may still be the safest option but a small getaway like this one, knowing that recreational places too are putting utmost importance to keep their guests safe, can truly be a memorable way to make the most of the summer, relax and enjoy some time off.
