Chocolate Marble Loaf Cake

Every marble cake has a personality of it’s own, I have never seen two of them that has turned out absolutely identical and that’s the part that excites me the most about them.

After it’s baked, it’s always such a delight to slice them up just to admire the beautiful patterns formed by the Vanilla and the Chocolate cake batters and ofcourse, binge on them just after.

This recipe makes one loaf of dense and delicious Marble Cake. I topped mine with a ganache made by melting Lindt Milk Chocolate bars. It’s pretty basic but really gave that Oomph factor to this cake.
I’d definitely recommend your choice of Chocolate ganache to go on this cake, although it’s drool-worthy just as it is, without any topping too.

Great for breakfast, during tea-time or as a dessert, it’s a cake worth trying out!

Ingredients

  • 1 2/3 cups all purpose flour

  • 3 Tsp baking powder

  • Pinch of salt

  • 250gm softened butter

  • 1 cup sugar

  • 5 eggs

  • 2 Tbsp vanilla extract

  • 2 Tbsp milk

  • ¼ cup cocoa powder

  • Chocolate Ganache (optional)

Directions

  • In one medium bowl, mix together the dry ingredients: flour, baking powder and salt. Set aside.
  • In another bowl, cream the butter and sugar together using an electric mixer.
  • Add in the eggs one at a time, incorporating each egg completely in the batter with every addition. Add vanilla extract and milk.
  • Stir in the dry flour mixture into the wet ingredients until well combined.
  • Divide this cake batter into two bowls. Stir in sifted cocoa powder in one of the bowls.
  • Grease a loaf pan and add a thin layer of the plain batter followed by a layer of the chocolate batter which again is followed by the plain batter (it does not need to be perfect and you can honestly add it in whichever way you like)
  • Swirl a knife into the batter to create a nice pattern.
  • Bake in 180degree C for about 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  • Top the cake with Chocolate Ganache. Slice and Enjoy!
